RTI Training provides courses for the Road Transport Industry.

Each course is approved by the relevant accreditation body.

ADR - INITIAL

Who needs an ADR Certificate?
Everyone driving vehicles carrying "in scope" dangerous goods on domestic or international roads must have in their possession a current ADR Certificate which is valid for the dangerous classes being carried and the type of vehicle being driven.

The ADR Certificate can be obtained by attending a Department for Transport approved ADR Initial training and passing SQA examinations.

There are 9 UN Classes of dangerous goods and the ADR qualification can be "In tanks" or "Other than in Tanks".

Who needs an ADR Refresher?
Drivers of vehicles carrying dangerous goods who hold a Vocational Training Certificate (VTC) that is due to expire. Department for Transport approved ADR Refresher training and passing SQA examinations.

This process must be undertaken at least six weeks prior to the expiry date of the VTC.

CPC - ROAD HAULAGE

Who needs a CPC qualification?
Every Road Haulage Company operating vehicles (with some exceptions) must hold an "Operator’s licence".

One condition is to have someone with a "Certificate of Professional Competence" qualification in Road Haulage. This can be someone employed by the Company or from "outside".

There are changes in 2012. The syllabus for passing the OCR examinations will change in 2012 and the number of companies and vehicles a non employee can cover will be restricted.

Who needs a CPC qualification?
Every Passenger Transport Company operating vehicles (with some exceptions) must hold an "Operator’s licence".

One condition is to have someone with a "Certificate of Professional Competence" qualification in Passenger Transport. This can be someone employed by the Company or from "outside".

Who needs a Driver CPC qualification?
Every driver who wants to drive professionally will need to have a Driver Qualification Card in their possession.

Passenger Transport drivers, who held a Vocational Driving entitlement before September 2008, have been given 5 years to gain 35 hours Periodic training.
Once they have carried out 35 hours of JAUPT approved training, they will be able drive professionally after September 2013.

Road Haulage drivers, who held a Vocational Driving entitlement before September 2009, have been given 5 years to gain 35 hours Periodic training.
Once they have carried out 35 hours of JAUPT approved training, they will be able drive professionally after September 2014.

Each course is designed to ensure Companies and drivers benefit from attending our courses.

Who needs a DGSA qualified person?
Every Road Haulage Company carrying "in scope" dangerous goods must appoint a qualified Dangerous Goods Safety Adviser.

This can be someone employed by the Company or from "outside".

Their qualification must be relevant to the type of dangerous goods being carried and the mode of transport.

Who needs Dangerous Goods Awareness training?
Everyone involved in the carriage of dangerous goods needs to show that they have attended a Dangerous Goods Awareness Course and have reached a level of competence.

Some drivers may only need this course if they are carrying less than "Limited Quantities" or less than "Load Threshold" if carrying dangerous goods in packages.

RTI Training uses standard courses but we make sure we fit the content to your operational needs.

We normally carry out these courses on your premises and bring our own equipment.
